Madness of March

Life is rolling along. I think we're out of nightmare land with our youngest teen. for now anyway. Cole is bleeding us dry with his endless "I want/need" list. And the transition from high school to college with Jake is only slightly painful. The deadlines are killing me. Last day of March and I thought Ara sent off the FSFAF electronically. Nope, he's been sitting on it. I got the VTAG (some Virgina form) in the mail a few days ago. Transcripts and SAT scores are sent (I hope-this is another area where I have to depend on someone else to do). Now lets cross our fingers for a big fat financial aid packet!

I signed up for a free trial of the grocery game today. http://www.thegrocerygame.com/
super bummed that I missed triple coupon day yesterday. But I did save $11 and the total was $10.28. I forgot to get a Sunday paper last Sunday so I missed out on those coupons...and I'll be gone next week. 15 of the 20 items I went to get this time were sold out...so I'm thinking there must be a lot of grocery gamers in town. I picked Harris Teeter as my main store...Food Lion/Bloom is offered but that place always smells like rotten produce so I'll skip it. This week I scored some free chocolate milk, and croutons, $.99 hidden valley ranch dressing, and $.59 Fleischmann's yeast.

Snowstorm 2010 continues

We had a little break, but now the snow is back. When I drove Cole to school at 7 the big fat flakes started falling and by 9 we were in a white out. Andi had just barely gotten on the bus and called to let me know that the bus was bringing her back. School decided to dismiss early. I had to go and get Cole at 11; he called and asked me to pick him up because he didn't trust the bus on the roads. (eye roll) I had started my way to work but slid through an intersection so I turned my happy behind around and came back home. It's been over 20 years since I've driven in snow and I wasn't any good at it then. By the time I got back home the drive was already drifting. And I only made it to 7-11 before I turned around--that's barely a mile. I got the driveway shoveled out. That was a first for me. I can't believe I made it to 40 without ever shoveling snow...well yes I can because most of my adult life has been in the south. The programmable thermostat and I are fighting. It's programmed to drop to 61 while everyone is gone. Yikes that's cold. I keep bumping it up, but it wants to do its own things....so I literally did laps around the downstairs until I warmed up. My dog thinks I'm a freak. And to top things off, there is no chocolate in the house--I've already had two diet pepsi and don't know how much longer I can hold off on snacking.

The first day of Feb

So so sick of this sinus headache that attacked me all weekend.

NO school or work again tomorrow for me and the kids. I have my laptop here so I can work offsite, but poor ole' Ara has to go in.

I got crazy at GNC and bought a 30 day total cleanse. I'm two weeks in and feel the same.

Snowstorm 2010

We're on day two of being confined to the neighborhood. Not so bad. Actually Ara and I got out yesterday and hiked our way to 7-11 for pepsi, beer and 2 cans of skoal. I didn't know that was the deal-I thought we were just picking up pepsi to take the the neighbors for game night. Tomorrow we may need to hike out for toilet paper. Haha. Yesterday when I stuck a ruler in the snow we were at 8 inches. It snowed a little after that but not much.
I think the secret to this peaceful snow-in is planned sleepovers for the boys. It's just been Andi and us. We even roasted marshmallows in the fireplace. Ara has the drive and walk shoveled out, but it's iced over. Our neighborhood hasn't been plowed so we both called in for Monday. Hopefully we'll have some melting action and warmer air before the rain hits on Wednesday.
Ara started his bass lessons on Friday. He was so excited when he got home that night. I may have a rockstar on my hands when he hits his midlife crisis. Maybe he'll add on to the house so he can have a studio. giggle.
I am on sweater two. It's a pullover hoodie. I wish it was already done..it would have come in handy this weekend. Pics to come soon. I also ordered some books on locker hooking. Hope to use up some of the scrap fabric I have.

Resolutions

I hadn't and wasn't going to get around to making new year's resolutions. But after unexpectedly having the day to myself puttering around the house...I lost my keys this morning and didn't find them until 11:43. Spike was laying on them. Lazy dog didn't sense my panic. By then the house was ransacked and it took me the rest of the day to put it back together. So having all this time to think....My resolutions this year are as follows:
1. Be more diligent about recycling.
2. Cook more often, Eat out less.
3. Eat more fiber.
4. Make do and Save more money. So someday I can go to the Biggest Loser Resort in Utah. ;)
5. Think and start gift buying throughout the year...Make a gift closet or something.
6. Be nicer to Ara. just because he's a sweetie deep down beneath the growling
7. Simplify and sort out all this junk I am storing and taking care of.
8. Drink more water
9. Take more naps. :p Just because....
10. Ummmm Rinse and Repeat 1-9
