The new year has brought many changes to our family.
For starters Cole has joined the Army. He left our house on 14 Jan. We did get a phone call on the 19th. He was still stuck in reception. They told him he most likely would be there until Friday. I just grinned when he told me. This is the part he will hate, the waiting. He said he is bored and the food is horrible. We only talked briefly, because I had to let his dad talk to him. And he only got his cell phone for a limited time and I knew he'd probably want to get in touch with some friends too.
I signed up for a class at the local communtiy college. Current job pays tuition remimbursement so I think I'll go for a desktop publishing certificate and learn the ropes to whatever new is out there.
Also volunteered to put together a quilt of children's artwork for a local preschool to auction off. so stressful. I like perfection and it's difficult to put together something with flaws and let it go out into the world. The only thing left to to is sew on the binding. It turned out ok, but it sure wouldn't win a ribbon and a county fair.
Just like every winter, I am toying with the idea of a garden. I drug Ara out to the backyard and we staked out a little area closer to the water spigot and the garage door. Nothing worse than lugging tools and water far distances. Trying to keep it simple. This winter has started out so warm that it is decieving. I should have taken advantage of those warm days to strip the top layer of sod off and dig. Now it is gettting a bit brisker outside. I do have dill sprouting up again in the herb garden. I don't even use dill that often. I tried to plant it 5 years ago with no luck and then last year it mysteriously came up on its own.
